About training collars for dogs ? Help?

My dog is crazy when it comes time for me to take her for a walk or should i say when it’s her time for her to take me for a walk.At the moment i’m just using the buckle collar. She pulls so hard that she coughs. And the worst and most dangerous thing that she does is jumping out from the sidewalk just as soon as she sees a car or a bike, and the road is only a small road so there is a very high chance that she could get knocked.I recently went online and saw all the rewiews about all the different types of training collars. And it says that the halti and the check chain can cause the dog some serious damage if used by some one who is not trained.I do have a check chain and halti but have yet to use it on my dog.Funny thing is the prong collars seemed to be much safer according to the reviews. But i am not very keen on using the prong collar. My dog’s a german shepard cross and she’s 10 months.

i sometimes use a harness which goes around the body of the dog, it does help, but what you need to do is to take your dog out on the lead, but instead of letting the dog have the full lead to pull on you loop the lead up when the dog pulls drop the loop and turn the other way, the dog will feel the pull and turn around to catch up, keep doing this until you dog walks by your side, if there is a safe bit of road then do it there, yes you do look a bit silly walking back wards and forwards but it is training your dog to walk by your side in a calm manor, if you do this daily your dog will be walking by your side in no time, i do not like the haltis as they do not do much good i hate the choke chains as the dog can pull and hurt its self a normal collar and leash is all you need, once you have her walking by your side you can then take her our on a main road with traffic, walk with your dog on the inside and if you see a car then just keep calm and walk, if your dog is walking with her tail between her legs then hook the handle of the leash over her tail and lift it up, this for some reason gives them confidence, with a bit of time and effort on your part your dog will be walking safely in no time, best of luck honey
